HGI Scope
The HGI’s outputs include
- Requirements documents for home gateways and home networking equipment. HGI requirements documents, which include “RD” in the title, describe functional requirements for devices or features. An example is the HGI-RD001-R3 document, which describes functional requirements for home gateways in the Release 3 timeframe.
- Test plans for home gateways and home networking equipment, together with HGI-organised test events that evaluate vendors’ compliance against functional and performance requirements.
- Home network and services guidelines. HGI guideline documents, which include “GD” in the title, provide in-depth analysis of the services, architectures, and issues associated with deployment of services. An example is the HGI-GD002-R2 document, which provides analysis of the deployment of IMS by Broadband Service Providers
(BSPs).
- Policy statements that reflect consensus views of the BSPs in the HGI Management Committee, in areas like energy efficiency, power line home networking requirements, WIFI requirements, etc. These statements are often made through a liaison process with other industry stakeholders.
